Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag!!
This is a tag that is pretty old, but some booktubers have been doing it again recently. I posted a video of this on my youtube. Going to make a post on it too!

Hold on because we’re about to dive in!
This year I have read close to 100 books, combining both my physical books and kindle books.
1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2017?
This is a very hard question to answer because I read so many books. Sarah J Maas is my queen so I obviously have to go with one of hers. I would have to pick Empire of Storms. I know this book came out last year, but I didn’t finish it until this year so I am counting it! I loved all of the suspense and romance and fantasy that Sarah J Maas included. The multiple perspective also helped gauge different points and times in the book. Once again SJM plays my heart strings!
2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2017?
The best sequel I have read this year is Onyx by Jennifer L Armentrout. This is another book that is older, but I read it about a month ago. Jennifer L Armentrout is one of my favorite authors of all times. She made the sequel have just as much suspense and fantasy as the first one, which I personally think is a hard trial for authors to pull off. She did very well!
3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To?
Don’t judge me on this one, but my answer for this is Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare. If you can’t guess from my blog name I love The Mortal Instruments series because it is the book that got me into watching booktube and following book instagram’s. I have a valid reason for why I haven’t read this book yet. I was waiting to read it because I wanted it to be the right moment and have time to read it all at once. Then my friend was texting me and told me the ending was good and that the next book doesn’t come out for like two years. TWO YEARS! So now I have been putting it off because I know I won’t want to wait that long. I think I will probably end up reading it in September or October since everyone says it is so good.
4. Most Anticipated Release For Second Half of 2017?
My most anticipated release for the second half of the year would have to be, if you couldn’t guess, Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas! I am excited for this book since I love the SJM and the Throne of Glass series, but I am a bit bummed that I have to wait a whole year to wait for the last book. I mean don’t get me wrong I am still excited, but I need more Aelin and Rowan in my life!
5. Biggest Disappointment?
The book that disappointed me the most was Crystal Kingdom by Amanda Hocking. I liked the series because it was in the same world as another series by Amanda Hocking and it was super interesting. Though it didn’t end how I wanted it to. This is honestly the only reason that it disappointed me, otherwise it was a great series!
6. Biggest Surprise?
The biggest surprise for me was Dark Promise by Talia Jager. This was a surprise to me because it was one of the many free books that I got on my kindle. Typically when I get a book for free on the kindle I don’t expect much from them since they are free. I really liked this one though!
- Favorite New Author?
One of my favorite new authors is Lynsay Sands. She is a romance writer and the series that I like her for is the Argeneau series, which is about vampires. I just love how she connects all of the books and makes them flow, even though they are each bout a different character.
8. Newest Fictional Crush?
My new crush, which technically began last summer, is RHYSAND!! I love him so much, if you have read the A Court of Thorns and Roses series you would know why I love him so much.
9. Newest Favorite Character?
My newest favorite character is Lucian Argeneau. I like him because he is the hierarchy of the Argeneau family and protects everyone in it. Until his book he seems like a very cold and stony man. Then you get to his book and find out that he actually a softy on the inside for the people he truly cares about.
10. Book That Made You Cry?
The book that made me cry was A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas. I mean any book at the end of a series that I love makes me a bit sad. So I would have to name this one.
- Book That Made You Happy?
A book that made me happy was Hexed by Michelle Krys. It made me happy because I really like the main character and her love interest. It was a very refreshing book to get me out of a book slump.
- Favorite Book To Movie/Show Adaptation You Saw This Year?
My favorite book to show adaptation this year was A Series of Unfortunate Events. I really enjoyed this adaptation and think that it was very well executed. Neil Patrick Harris played his part so well! I really look forward to seeing more if they make more seasons.
- Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year?
I would have to say my favorite reviews were when I did the flash back book reviews. It was super fun to reread all of the books I used to like and see what i thought of them now. I may just have to do more of them again! Maybe some twilight 😉
- Most Beautiful Book You Bought So Far This Year?
My favorite book covers are always Rick Riordan’s covers. He always has so many elements conveyed in his cover and makes all of the elements work well cohesively to make a beautiful cover.
15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of The Year?
-Tower of Dawn
-Finish Rick Riordan books
