The big question I feel every reader wants to know is: What inspired you to make this blog?
You all already know I love reading, but you don’t know why I have the need to express my opinion.
A short backstory is required first. I grew up in the state of Washington. In this state there is a program called running start. This program is where instead of doing your junior and senior year at the high school, you do it at the local community college. So you get college credits, while also still fulfilling your high school requirements. Now back to my story.
My Junior year in high school my second quarter at the community college I was taken English 201, which is the class you are required to take after 101. One of our finals projects was to find a book of our choosing, with our approval of the professor. I went to my older sister who is a reader also and asked her if she had a book she thought I would like. She went through our bookshelfs and gave me The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I thought it sounded interesting, so I took it to my professor for approval and surprisingly she had read it before and thought it was a good one.
I started that night and I could not put it down and as soon as I finished I knew that this book was going to be forever stuck in my mind. After this I started following people on instagram that had to do with the mortal instruments. This led me to the booktube abookutopia. Then I realized how big the booktube community is. From there I followed many booktubes and was constantly watching these videos. From there I decided to make a book instagram, but I had a hard time coming up with pictures to post.
I got to University and because literature is all I think about I decided to major in English literature. Over the years I tried to think about how I could find another platform where I didn’t have to have an inventive picture every time. I graduated in 2016 and decided that I wanted to make a book youtube. Though I have had a hard time actually launching it over this last year because this past year I have been busy with work and a lot of traveling, so it is hard to film videos in between those. So I had to go back to the drawing board.
Recently I finally had it! I could do a book blog, this would solve both of my problems. I wouldn’t need any creative photos and I could post anywhere anytime. I could do this because all of my work involves the the computer and I always have a laptop on vacation. This way I could blog whenever I wanted. I could also make videos when I have time and put these on my blog. I hope that this blog is what I have been looking for since I first read The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
The fact that The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was what inspired me to get into the book community is why my blog name is based off of the series.
